Rem (they/them) is a queer Black creative writer, actor, and producer based in Chicago. An IGDA-Foundation alum, graduate of Green Shirt Studio Chicago’s Meisner acting program, and a published screenwriter, they are a versatile storyteller dedicated to immaculate world-building, creating dynamic characters and brand voices, and spinning tales that celebrate the diversity of humanity, with experience working in various media, including film, social media, games, and prose.

With a long history of improvised collaborative writing, Rem thrives when working with others to devise and flesh out a shared vision. As the head writer and narrative designer for Spirit Bomb, Inc., Rem built the SB universe from the team’s original concept and filled it with deep lore and an eclectic cast of virtual artists.

Influenced by their own journey of self-discovery (or self-recovery) and lived experience as a barely visible minority, Rem aims to bring underrepresented characters and stories out from the shadows. They draw creative inspiration from their dreams, their travels, their communities, folklore, and music to develop macabre, soul-searching tales in the dark fantasy and horror genres. Currently, they are penning a dark fantasy novel trilogy under the working title Rouge & Pestilence, as well as writing and producing short films in the Chicago indie scene. The Picture in the House, a short film they co-wrote, was nominated for Best Script, Best LGBTQIA+ Film, Best Late Night/Experimental Film, and Best FX at the inaugural Chicago Film Frenzy film festival, 2025. Some of Rem’s passions outside of writing include: singing, learning foreign languages, world travel, doodling in their sketchbook, creating dramatic makeup looks, clothes styling, and dogs. Dogs might be their favorite thing ever.
